The conference of the Libraries Association of New Zealand opens to-mor-row in Wanganui. A good programme of papers has be"en arranged, and three of the essays have been specially sent from the United States, and one from Sydney. The subjects taken by the Americans are "Picture Collections in Libraries" (Hiller C. Weilmann City Library, Springfield, Massachusetts); "Local History in tho Public Library Grand Kapids, Michigan" (Samuel h! Eanck, Public Library, Grand Kapids) •' "Suggestions for the Promotion of Good Beading in Libraries'' (Helen E. Haines, Library School lecturer on book selection, Pasadena, California). The Australian contributor (W. H* Ifould, Principal Librarian, Sydney) has taken as his subject "The CountyCirculation Department of the Public Library of New South Wales," and the seven Dominion contributors have all chosen titles which suggest that their papers will be both entertaining and instructive.
