RIFLE SHOOTING.

♦- ■' The Karori Rifle Club fired the first stag© o£ its C.A.C. and Bertram Cup competitions on Saturday, over ranges of 300, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots at each. A tricky rear wind had most of the competitors, in difficulties, and the scoring was not up to the usual standard. Rifleman M. M'Whirter, a junior member, shot consistently throughout, and made the highest score off the rifle, notching 95 ou.t of a possible K)5. Details:—

The above concluded the club's competition for the Brigadier-General Johnston Memorial Cup, which was again won by Rifleman F. Ching, his total being 376, Dep.-Pres. Croxton being second.with 375. Other leading scores were:—R. Caughley 360- A. ST. Butler 355, C. E. H. Frankland 352, T. H. R. Boon 346. Next Saturday the club will complete the O.A.C. and Bertram Cup competitions, the conditions beiug seven shots at ranges 800, 900, and 1000 yards.
