JAPAN WOEKIED
MAIN INTEREST AT STAKE
(Sydney Sun Cable.)
TOKIO, sth February. It is reported that the Chinese Nationalists are planning to seize the HanYahping iron mine, above Hankow. This is vastly worrying the Japanese, who see in the plan the first heavy anti-Japanese blow. This mine is practically the sole source of pigiron for Japan's Government steel plants, in which hundreds of millions ara invested. Japan 's interest in the mine is safeguarded by a treaty forming an important part of those interests in China which Baron Shidehara declared Japan must protect.
