Evans Bay Club won the annual jnterelub race for fourteen-footers on Saturday, Coo-ec making a good race of it all the way. The' westerly breeze was fairly steady at the start at 3.15 p.m., but became fitful as the race progressed, at times dying almost away. Ten boats entered. These were June (Powells), 010 (Christie), Wonder (Parrant), and Spook (Ward), Petone; Wellesley (White), All Black (Crawford), and Geisha (Tucker), R.P.N.Y.C; Coo-ec (Johnston), Tue (Pycroft), and Runa (Wilkinson), Evans Bay. From the start AH Black was first ofi the line, followed by Coo-ec, June, and Wellesley, the others strung out behind. On the lead, to Jerningham AIL Black led, followed by Wellesley and Coo-ee. All Black led to Coromandel, where she was llsec ahead of Coo-ec, Wellesley two minutes later. From this point on the race resolved itself into a struggle between these three boats. On the run to.the buoy ofE Clyde Quay Wharf Coo-ec led, rounding it. Ssec ahead of Wellesley. All' Black, the only boat to set a spinnaker, was 37sec behind. The second time round, on the lead to Jerninghatu, the wind fell away and became very patchy. All Black and Coo-ec being badly left, Wellesley', which stood to the windward, rounding the buoy first. The wind turned slightly to the east. Following Wellesley round Jerningham buoy came' All Black and Coo-ee. On the beat to Coromandel the wind was very fitful, and at times the boats had none, each taking turns to lead. : All Black was first round Coromandel buoy, followed by Wellesley, but got left on the run home.
