CHRISTCHURCH, sth February. The last matches of the first round of the grade competition finished to-day. Riccarton just missed a three-point win against Sydenham. Riccarton carried their first innings' total to 322 and Sydenham (with 178 on for the first innings) were all out for 182 in the second. Riccarton had not time to bat again. For Riccarton, Roberts (129) and Fuller (83) were the outstanding batsmen, and for Sydenham Ayling (59), Gasson (57). Old Boys beat Linwood by 14 runs Scores: Old Boys, 269 and 112, and Linwood 324 and 161.; Best, scores to-day were as follow: For Linwood, Orchard 50, and for Old Boys, Jacobs G2 not out and Cromb 31.

East Christchurch defeated St. Albans by nine wickets. St. Albans, with a deficiency of 36 on the first innings, scored only 118 in the second (Brown 49). East knocked up the required runs for the loss of two wickets (Mullan 42) r West Christchurch, with a first innings' total of 419 had a commanding lead over the Old Collegians, but just failed to obtain a three-point win.
