HINT TO VISITORS
MIND YOTJE OWN BUSINESS
OTTAWA, 3rd February. ■ Speaking at a banquet in honour of the Prime Minister, Mr. King, Mr. E. Lapointe, Minister of Justice, said:— "I cannot see by what process of reasoning it could be argued that autonomy implies more military obligations. May' I even suggest that distinguished visitors tvquld perhaps be better advised if they refrained from offering so much advice to the people of Canada as to how they ehould deal with matters which
, . . are exclusively their own business... Autonomy means self-government in., all matters. In the problems of defence, as in other questions, it is for the Parliament of Canada to decide."
The reference is to the gentle reminders to Canada on defence administered by Mr. Bruce and Mr. Coates during their recent visits.
