The water channel in this fn»£ "?1 originally partly filled in with simply thrown across the street in any old spot with no attempt to provide a good surface, the result being that water' diverted from the uroper channel caused great culverts in the centre of the road. Ihe water channel has received partial attention, but road and footpath continue in a very bad state, to the great discomfort of all traffic, apart from danger involved. One wonders why the City Council, having started to improve this thoroughfare, and spending so much on it, <lid not complete the work and make a job of it. What is the reason for mich. delay? Is. it, Mr. Editor, another case of Premature action or shortage of funds? Which? If the latter, it is passing strange that money can be found .for other loss necessary works.—l am, etc.,
