CIVIL SERVICE TOURNEY

PORTEOUS THE WINNER

The Public Service Bowling Associa. tion's annual tournament concluded yesterday afternoon with a win for the Education rink, skipped by J. Porteous, the runners-up being the P. and T. rink, skipped by de Tourettes. Play took place on the Thorndon green.

The semi-finals resulted:—P. and T.: Sunley, George Redmond, Dixon, de Tburettes (s), 20; Public Trust: Gilbert, Bland, Purdie, Carrad (s), 17. Education: Croxton, Burns, Caughley, Porteous (s), 20; P. and T.: Tre;onning, James Redmond, Wyatt, Nieholls (s), 18. In the final, the scores were: Croxton, Burns, Caughley, Porteous (s), 26; P. and T.: Sunley, G. Redmond, Dixon, de Tourettes (s), 15. For a while the going was even, and de Tourettes was successful in getting a coupie of 4's, but Porteous's men then began to forge ahead until they established a big lead, and at the twentieth head de Tourettes retired, his, score then being 11 points behind that of his opponent. ' EDWIN FEATHERS. The weekly contest for' the Edwin Feathers took place yesterday afternoon on the Victoria green, arid resulted in a tie. Victoria (holders): Davis, J. B. Martin, Tucker, J. M. Brackenridge (s), 19; Karori (challengers): Neilson, Platt, Dry den, Burn (s), 19. As the rules governing the competition s':ate that the game is to be decided in a 21----head contest, the holders retain the Feathers. . : . : . VICTORIAN BOWLERS. A rink of bowlers from-Victoria (Australia) comprising Messrs. Booth, Crate, Allatt, and Swain had a very enjoyable game on the Victoria grecu yesterday afternoon. The team has visited most of the principal cities and towns, of the North Island", and two of iheir number intend seeing most of the Bouth Island before returning to the Commonwealth. On Thursday afternoon the Victorians were at the Wellington green.
