THE RIGHT DISC.

An innkeeper had an annual draw. Many prizes were awarded each year, and the drawing on the face of it seemed fair enough. The method was as follows: The landlord provided a ' number of metal discs, and these were, drawn one by one from a green baize bag by the landlord's small daughter. The little girl would, in the ordinary way, plunge her hand into the bag, rummage round for a few seconds with her eyes shut, and then bring out the disc. This' would win the first prize, usually a fine, fat turkey. On the occasion in question, however, she took such a long time to make lier choice, that her father said, "Hurry up, child."

"I can't find the hot one, daddy," she replied.
