DE LUXE THEATRE.
: Circuses and circus stories never lack for patrons, especially if they are something "extra special" in the way of entertainment, and this applies equally to the screening of circus stories. Last evening, at the De Luxe Theatre, the management placed before its large audience one of the most interesting circus stories ever screened in Wellington, under the title of "Spangles." The story is centreround life in Al. G-. Barnes's famous American circus, in which a girl nicknamed "Spangles" is the star bareback rider. The plot contains a love triangle, more interesting than usual, and there is an elephant, a huge, bad monster, which plays a very prominent part in the solution of a problem which at first looks unsolvable. The situations are thrilling, the setting includes many star turns in the circus, and the acting throughout is exceptionally good. Marian Nixon, Pat O'Malley, and Hobart Bosworth are the leading players, supported by a number of very expert circus performers. On the programme is also an International News, giving scenes of Sir Alan Cobham's return to London/ as well as interesting pictures of the United States navy, while the comedy is one of Buster Brown's funniest efforts. The Orchestra De Luxe, under the leadership of Miss A. 'Bryers, plays a selection from "The Fortune Teller". (Herbert) as. the overture, and Leon Jessel's "Parade of the Tin Soldiers" as .the entr'acte, while the incidental music has been carefully selected. The programme is being repeated this afternoon, and will be screened again tonight and throughout next week.
