A novel plea was made in a case for possession at Lower Hutt on "Wednesday, when Mr. L. J. Maule, for defendant, questioned tho right of Mr. C. E. Barrett, solicitor for plaintiff, to give notice to quit on behalf of his client without producing his written authority so to do. The plea, however, did not carry weight with Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., who advised Mr. Barrett that he need not trouble to reply; to it.
