BRITISH SAILORS' SOCIETY.
Great enthusiasm was shown at the concert given by Mr. E. Bevanon on Thursday at the British >Sailors' Society. Each item was greeted with applause, the performers having to respond with numerous encores. The .president" of the Entertainment Commitee was.;'chairman,..and at the close of the performance, proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the party. This was carried with acclamation and cheers by the large audience. Jlisa M. Wilson and helpers handed round Bupper. Items were contributed by:^ Mesdames':Metcalf and Rosenthai, Misses Rease and I?. Tilling, Messrs. Quinlan, Wilkie, Brown, Whaler, "vVilkie, Asher, Benson (Port Melbourne), and Wallington (Mahana). Mrß. Metcalf and Mr. Asher were the accompanists for the evening. On Wednesday the mid-week social evening was held, and there was a verylarge number in attendance. Songs, games, and instrumental items were indulged in, and supper was handed'round.
