THE VISIT TO JAMAICA
(United Press Association.-Copyright.)
(Sydney Sun Cable.)
. H.M.S. RENOWN, Thursday We are gazing along the Caribbean, which is providing a welcome sight of land, though it is too far distant for topographical study. Presently wo shall be passing Hayti. There is great activity on the Renown in preparation tor arrival at Jamaica, where a great welcome has been arranged, including dressed and manned warships. Their Royal Highnesses will have a busy time with tours, lunches, dinners, garden parties, and receptions. The passage of the Panama Canal will also be the occasion for ceremonial calls, functions, and demonstrations of American friendship. ,The fortnight's contact with the Duke and Duchess of York emphasises their exceeding charm. The Duke is an enthusiast at work or play. Ho begins the morning with strenuous exercise, participates in conferences, studiously reads, always attends the ship's concerts and cinemas, and enjoys the interludes of community singing, in which he and the Duchess join heartily.
