PROMISING EXPERIMENTS

(Received 19th January, 2 p,ni.) LONDON", 18th January. A Marconi expert, Mr. G. M. "Wright, is perfecting a system for facsimile' telegraph transmission, dispensing with a key-tapping 'operator and reducing the possibility of error and saving both time and money. A written or typewritten message is simply placed on a cylinder and duly reproduced aa a facsimile at the receiving station, to which it is dispatched by directional wireless.

beam system, and therefore will be one of the systems used in inter-Empire services. While purely line drawings could be transmitted - the dispatch of half-tone pictures was not yet within range. The main, purpose of the experiments was to perfect, an economic and. commercially practicable form of written communication.
