MATCH WITH AUCKLAND,

No match for tho Plunket Shield has created greater interest than that to be played between Auckland and Wellington at Auckland, commencing on Friday next. As neither Auckland nor Wellington have been defeated this season, this match will decide which province is to hold the trophy for the next twelve months. Apart from having this importance, the meeting of the two teams is regarded as the big trial in view of tho selection of the New Zealand team for England. The Now Zealand selectors will be present, and it is expected that after the match they will name most of the players to make the trip to England.

The majority of the Wellington representatives left for Auckland this afternoon. Kortlang and the country members of the team, Lowry, Worker, and Dempster, are ■ expected to join the party on the way up. The Wellington team for the match is as follows:—W. S. Brice (captain), J.
