Mr. C. J. Treleaven 'stated at last night's meeting of the' Canterbury laclumg Association .. that a dato' should be fixed for an inquiry, which, at the previous, meeting, it .had rbeen decided to hold. - ; .
. Mr. J. Waddell said that ho. did not think that an inquiry should be- held It would not do any good. He knew one reputable mail who" would swear that tho Betty rammed the.Usher. ■ "' ' Mr. A. Henderson safd that the Betty had been involved in..'trouble of tho kind in three' successive years. Mr. Waddell: "I would, like to seetho matter shelved." ' ■ ■ '
Mr. Henderson said' that there was one man who would like to see it gone on r,-ith, and that was Mr.' Collins, the skipper of the Usher. . ■
In reply to the suggestion that the inquiry should-bo left over until after the contest, Mr. Treleaven. said if the Usher was in tho-right that should be brought out. * : -...'..
Mr. W. T. Lester, the chairman: ."It does not matter what the result of tho inquiry is, the Betty is Canterbury' 3 representative."
After further discussion it was decided to hold an inquiry on Tuesday, next and to-invite the skippers of both boats. An amendment that the inquiry! be postponed until after the Sanders Cup contest was decided was.lost.
