SURF CLUB CARNIVAL
ISLAND BAY BUILDING CAMPAIGN.
With the object of extending the preseut inadequate accommodation of the clubhouse, the members of the Island Bay Live-saving and Surf Club are working to raise funds by means of a queen carnival, to be followed, at Easter, by a grand gala. The queen carnival was inaugurated at mid-night on Friday, and the members at once began selling decorations, etc., for the two queens. In the Masonic Hall, the president of the club (Mr. A. Dicker) invested the Eastern Queen, Miss Doris Lenuie, and her maid of honour, Miss Mona M'Clure, and the- Western Queeu, Miss Dulcie Howard, and her maid of honour, Miss N. Vidulich, with their distinctive sashes. The club building, when completed, will greatly improve the appearance .of the beach, aud will provide not only extra dressing accommodation, but a social hall and a flat roof, where open-air dancing and baud performances may be given. Mr. N. A. Ingram has bacn appointed organising secretary of the campaign, and Mr. C. B. M'Dou"aß treasurer. The gala at Easter will close the campaign, and if the hopes of the club are realised, a ■ start will be made immediately with the new building. The first competition held was won by Mr S. Graham.
