MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Police cases in the Magistrate's Court to-day were dealt with by . Messrs I Salek and J. I. Goldsmith, J.P.'s. Snatching two £1 notes from Allan M'Gregor and making ou with them resulted in' James Kennedy, alias Thomas John Kennedy, alias Watson, a miner, aged 44, being sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Kennedy, who has several previous convictions, was remanded for a week on a charge of beiug unlawfully on a racecourse. A fine of £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, was imposed on Joseph Barcleu, a labourer, aged 42, who admitted stealing a black fox fur, worth £5, from Kathleen Kiernander. It was stated that Barden had committed the theEt while under the influence of liquor, and that he had made restitution. Found by night. on enclosed premises, John Williams, aged 56, John Mitchell ■ Porter .(54), Robert William. M'lntyre (36), Thomas Richards (60), and Frank Hunt (57), all labourers, were' convicted and discharged. ClaucVe Paget, alias Charles Parder, alias Lester, a carpenter, aged 51, was similarly dealt with for a like offence. For. being idle and disorderly, Harold King, a labourer, aged 27, was convicted and discharged, •. . ■ Two first offenders, for • drunkenness, were fined 10s, the amount of tlieir bail. Four others, who appeared before the Court, were convicted .and discharged. - Two first offenders, for drunkenness, were fined 10s, the amount of their bail, by Mr. W. H. Coy, J.P., in the, Mount Cook Police Court to-day. A third first offender, was fined ss.
