The Wellington-Canterbury Plunket Shield match was resumed to-day in fine weather. The wicket was in good order. Canterbury went.to the wicked faced with the task of catching Wellington's score of 448, but did not start promisingly, losing the first two wickets for only eleven runs. Gregory and Page stopped the rot, but the third wicket fell with, the totalat 46. Woods and Crawford opened to the bowling of Badcock and M( Gitiv From the first ball Crawford scored a single, and Woods scored one from the third delivery. Woods sent M'Girr's first delivery to the leg boundary, but •was clean bowled throe balls later, M'Girr beating him all the way. 6—l —5. Pago joined Crawford, and just afterwards three byes brought ten up. In M'Girr's second over Crawford's 1 stumps •were scattered. 11—2—1. Gregory was the next man, and opened his account with a single off M'Girr. Scoring was steady and thirty appeared for half an hour's : play. With tho total at 46, Henderson replaced Badcock, and from his first ball Gregory was caught by James, the. wicketkeeper, who was standing well back. 46—3—10. Olliver filled the vacancy. Canterbury's score reached the halfcentury when tho innings had been in progress for 52 minutes. HENDERSON IN FORM. The fourth 1 wicket fell with.the,total at 59, Pago being caught in tho slips by Hiddleston oil the fifth ball of Henderson's third over. 59—^4—30. Boon went in; but the second ball from Henderson caught his leg stump. 59—5—0. At this stage Henderson had taken three wickets for six runs. Patrick partnered Oliver, who, when 12. survived a strong appeal for a catei behind the wickets. At 64, Brice jrelieved IS.' Girr, and Patrick, who' had been at the crease for thirton minutes without scoriif;, opened his account Tfith a four off the Wellington captain. The sixth wicket fell with the total at 73, Oliver being caught by Hollings off the third ball of Brice's second over 72—6—ie. Sandman joined Patrick, and had scored only two runs when he was skittled by the first ball of Brice's next over. 77—7—2.
