CONTRACT SECURED.
The British Trade Commissioner In New Zealand (Mr. L; R. Beale)/has been advised by the Department of Overseas Trade of the following contracts recently secured by British firms in competition with foreign manufacturers:—For South America: 21,000 tons steel water pipes, by Guest, Keen, aud Nettlefords, Birmingham; 20,000 steel water main pipes (£500,000 approximately), by Bralthwalte and Co., Ltd., Westminster; heating equipment for coaches on Buenos Aires and Pacific Railway, by G. D. Peters, Slough. India: 12 superheater locomotives by the North British Loco-motive-Co.. Glasgow; milling, planing, and similar machinery, by .7. Parkinson, Shipley, York; big pumping plant for barrage on River Indus, by Gwynnes. London. South Africa: Cranes and traversers, by Ransones aud Rapier, Ipswich. Information Is also furnished relative to New Zealand contracts secured by British firms, viz.:—Petone', Railway Shops (Sir William Arrol and Co.), £200,000; oil (marine) engines, by Vlckers-Pelters, Ltd.; engineering machinery and tools, J. Parkinson, Shipley; motor vessel. Vlckers.. Ireland, Ltd., Dublin; heavy weighbridge, W. and T. Avery, Birmingham; electric control gear for tramways, Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Liverpool. ■
