WAIRARAPA TROTTING MEETING

There promises to be a large gathering of Wellington holiday makers at Carterton on Boxing Day and the day following on the occasion of the annual trotting meeting of the Wairarapa Club. The acceptances for the first day create a record for tlie club not only in numbers but in the clas of horses engaged.. The conveniences on the course have been improved each year until the Clareville course is one of the best appointed «courses among country racing clubs. Travellers by train can reach Clareville by tho 7.50 train from Wellington, which lands patrons on the course, while those who travel by motor will find the roads in excellent' condition for the whole distance. For the first time the club has decided to install a ten shilling totalisator. The principal event, tho Wairarapa Cup, has attracted a field of fourteen, and with such class horses as Van Cap. Lincoln. Huon, and Avenger on the back marks some excellent trotting should be' seen. In the Members' Handicap the acceptance;; also number fourteen, and among these are Greywood, Black Palm, Hardy Grattan, and Plunder, all well known as first-class performers. All the other races are also well filled, and good finishes should be the order.
