RELIEVING THE DISTRESS

GEEYMOUTH, This Day. At a meeting of the Brunner collieries held to-day at Wallsend the directors passed a vote of sympathy with the relatives and the friends of the miners who lost their lives in the recent disaster and instructed the mine manger, Mr. WhHtlestone, to render any assistance he could at the Dobson mine. They afterwards received a deputation from the president and vice-president of the-Grey Valley Miners' Union asking for work, in or about the mine or sidings. The directors received the deputation and promised to do the^r utmost to find work for any miners out of employment. The manager was, instructed to act accordingly.

Donations for the Dobson Relief Fund, acknowledged in the "Greymouth Evening Star," are coming in freely. A large amount will be required to relieve the distress among the relatives of the victims.
