(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WANGANUI, 9th December. A mass meeting of North Island farmers here to-night reviewed the influences adverse to the prosperity of the primary producer. A big attendance included farmers from all the North Island provinces, while among the speakers were Mr. W. J. Poison (president of the New Zealand " Farmers' 'Union), Sir Andrew Eussell (Hastings), Messrs. A. Stewart (Marton), W. Perry (Masterton), John Cobbe (Feilding), W. B. Matheson (Eketahuna), J. Vickers (Taranaki), G. K. Wilson (Pio Pio), and W. Morrison (Wanganui). Several members of Parliament were present, including the Hon. O. J. Hawken and the Hon. A. D. M'Leod, but neither took any active part in the proceedings.

Kesolutions were passed calling for the abolition of the Arbitration Court, the establishment of a system of rural credits as recommended by the Eoyal Commission, extension of overseas markets for Dominion produce, and economy in public expenditure to allow reduced taxation.

The tone of the meeting was one of extreme dissatisfaction with the present position of farmers. Similar rallies are to be held in other centres.
