SECOND WOOL SALE

BRISK BIDDING AT NAPIER.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, This Day.

The second sale of the season opened spiritedly. Between 50 and 60 buyers competed, taking 95 per cent, of the first catalogue of 4500 bales in just under an hour. The bidding, though brisk, was erratic, but generally speaking the prices were on par to id advance on the last Napier sale. The better class of wools showed the biggest advance, due to the American competition. Bradford led the. market, with the Continent running up. France was very active on better style pieces, and Japan demanded a certain amount of crutchings. A noticeable.feature was the acquisition of the Dominion mills, which came to tho fore frequently for style pieces.

Southdown made up to 17Jd, Bomney lambs up to 15Jd, and coarse halfbred up to 15£ d. Pieces and bellies sold well from" par to id advance. Locks were not much in demand, slipping from par to id. Crutchinga were on par.
