FOREIGNERS WORKLESS
EFFECT OF DEFLATION.
(United Press Association.—Copyright.) PARIS, 6th December.
A big problem in France is the fate of foreigners, numbering two or three hundred thousand, who are likely to be thrown out of work in the process of revalorising the franc. The recent inflation gave French trade an artificial stimulus, and every factory clamoured for men, until now it is estimated that three million foreigners are working in France. Tfi? iron factories around Paris are already discharging half their men, and two of the biggestl motor firms are dispensing with the services of two to three thousand hands apiece. The Lyom silk factories, Roubaix; and Tourcoing textile works, and the Bougeres boot manufacturers are also feeling the pinch.
