AUCKLAND, 6th December.

William James Fox, aged 42, with several aliases, was arrested at Dannevirke' on 21st November on a charge of stealing four bottles of whisky and £50 in notes at Auckland on Sth Jlay, 1920.

An omployeo of a firm of merchants gave evidence that accused was then known as^Frazer, and was a, steward on the Waipu. On the date in question witness handed a parcel to accused and obtained a receipt for its delivery nt the Groat Barrier next day. It came to witness's knowledge hat delivery was not mado, and tho matter was reported to the police, who found ono bottle under accused's bunk on the Waipu's return two days later. Fox pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence.
