SURPLUS OF APPLICANTS
(By -elegrapli.—Press Association.) GISBORNE, This Day. , The members of the Freezers' Union have decided to accept employment, and a large number of men applied at both works this morning. Only a small number of these wero required, as many of the volunteer workers had elected to remain for the season, and, having applied for membership of the union, were kept on. Only twenty-five out of the seventy applicants got positions at the Haiti works. * .
