Official reports from Washington 3tate that America will not participate in any measure by the Powers to prevent the Cantonese seizing the Customs. Tho Amorican authorities declare the; Yangtse situation an internal affair, which does not concern America. Her naval forces in Chinese waters may be employed solely in the protection of lives and property. If necessary, the Americans will'evacuate'their holdings. Reports from Britain aro different, the Admiralty promising reinforcements when required. *
