INSTITUTE AND OLD BOYS

In their match with Old Boys on No. 2 wicket at the« Basin Reserve, Institute recovered wellffrom a poor, start, and through a fine partnership between Burt and Foley they were placed in a very strong position. Banks, Bilby, Prince, and Malcolm were all out with only 22 runs on the board, but H. Foley and D. Burt made a fifth wicket performance which has only twice being exceeded in local club cricket. Playing themselves in, they were soon confident, and then carried on in- aggressive' fashion. Bowling changes made Ettle difference to them, and from 100 they went oh to pile up another century, and on again until both succeeded in running into three figures. ■ Finally at 276 the partnership was broken, but it had been one of the best dn record, realising 254 runs. ,- Burt's contribution was 120, including a six, a five and twelve fours. Foley compiled 123, and in the' process he hit eleven fours. Only two other members of the team reached double figures—Massey (35) and C'.-.lvert (15). The most successful bowlers for' Old Boys were Tucker and Lambert. Before stumps were drawn Old Boys commenced their reply. , INSTITUTE. ' . First Innings.
