Kilbirnie and Thorndon met on the Kilbirnie Reserve. Thorndon had first use of tho wicket. Eight of their wickets fell for for 138, and the team's chances appeared far from bright. Then Ellerm and E. Foley became associated, and the score gradually mounted. . They played good cricket, and the partnership yielded 92 . runs. Ellerm and Foley completely saved the situation, and the last wicket went with the score at 254. \ Greig and Redmond commenced Kilbirnie's first innings, but Greig's stay at the '• crease was short, a good ball by L.
