PROHIBITIONISTS ROUTED
(Received 3rd December, 11 a.m.) OTTAWA, 2nd Dec. ' Tho result of the Ontario eleetiori brings nine-tenths of the area and population of Canada under the Government sale of liquor from, stores. Prohibition still reigns only in the small---maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward's Island. Out of a membership of 112! in the House, 80 of those elected will support Government control of liquor. These are composed of 75 straight Conservative followers of the Premier, Mr. Per* guson, and fivo "wet" Independent*. The Opposition consists of the Liberal^ and. Progressives. - Of 30 candidates who entered the battle as straight Prohibition candidates not one was elected. Mr. Raney, the Liberal leader and the "dry" leader, was elected by a narrow majority, while Mr. Nickle, the former Attorney*General, who deserted Mr. Fergasoa over tho hitter's liquor proposals, waa) badly beaten.
