FIVE YEARS TO WIPE OUT RAVAGES.

Since the Armistice, 541,000 buildings have been restored in the French de- ' vastated areas, 26,583 miles of roads, and 1181 miles of railroads have been reconstructed, and five million acres of land put under cultivation again. Nevertheless, five years will be required completely to wipe out the ravages of war. The work of restoration has cost so far seventy milliards of francs. ■■
