In the Nortlicliffe will case, Thomas Marlowe, late editor of the "Daily Mail," and at present chairman of directors, gave evidence that ho sought to purchase controlling shares in news.paper properties on behalf of Sir Malcolm Fraser, formerly chief agent -of the Conservative Party, but did not pursue the matter after learning that Sir George Sutton had accepted Lord Rothermere _ offer. Witness mi/;ht have offered £5,000,000 to -6,000,000 if he had known the price Sir George Sutton would consider. The hearing was adjourned.
