STOCKING TROUT STREAMS

Since the commencement .of operations the Wellington Acclimatisation Society has distributed'a large number/of trQut fry in the streams in its district, and the total released will shortly reach 1,125,000 brown trout fry and 75,000 rainbow trout fry. Distributions so far are:—Brown trout fry: Wairarapa North 80,000, Wairarapa South 80,000, Palmerston North '80,000, Eketahuna 75,000, Pahiatua " 84,000, Lovin 50^00, Marton 45,000, Huntervillo 45,000, Taihapc 50,000, Mangaweka 30,000, Hutt and tributaries 100,000, Wainui 75,000, Akatarawa 25,000, Porirua 18,000, Marton Eiver'l2,ooo, Mungaroa 10,000, Horokiwi 10,000, Shannon 21,000, Mangahao 11,000, Waikanae 20,000, Matarua 10,000,, Ngatiawa 10 A 000, Maunganui 10,000, Maungatukutu 10,000, Mangaoke 10,000, Little Wainui 15,000, To Komaru 20,000, . The distribution of yearlings was as follows:— Brown: Waipoua 700, Otaki 500, Pahiatua 700, Mangatarere 500, Waiohine 500, Palmerston North 500, Eketahuna 400, Hutt River 500, Levin 500, and Porirua 300; total, 5600. Rainbow: Otaki 1000, Mangahao Dams 1200, Pahiatua 500, Mangaweka, Kawhatay, and Pourangaki 400, Marton 350, Day's Bay (Williams Park) 50; total, 4000.
