At an inquest into the Tenterfield tragedy the evidence revealed that on the day of the tragedy Milton had a violent quarrel with his wife, who accused him of improper relations with a former servant girl. Before this ths family had lived very happily.
Constable Milton, his . wife, and three children were found dead in a burning house at Tcnterfield. Police investigations showed that the heads of the wifo and children had been battered with some blunt instrument, anj there was a, bullet wound in Milton'fl head,- ' .
