Work will be resumed in practically the entire coalfields on Monday, with the exception of South Wales, Yorkshire and Durham. In tho two lastnamed districts ballots are in progress on a recommendation that the owners' terms be accepted. South Wales is expected to take a ballot in a day or two.
In a speech at South Yorkshire Mr. A. J. Cook said he refused to call it a defeat. It was a retreat. They would set about the task of recovering the ground.
