FOOTPATH BLOCKAGE

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —An obstacle or a liurdle on a sports ground is -all very well, but an obstaclo on our city footpath, which will continue for about twelve months is quite a different matter. That obstacle occurs opposite tho entrance to the Kclburn tram, on Lambton quay. It may bo urged—quite ridiculously—that that tram stop ia convenient to the Kelburnitcs. But, -Sir, the Kelburnites are only a small fraction of our city's wayfarers. At present it. is inconvenient passing there in ordinary hours, but, Mr. Editor, I—and others—have been obliged to cross the street, and recross it immediately to get back on our way to the G.P.O. The City Council ought to shift that tram stop back just a r'eiv yurds to where tho footpath has its full width, then there will be no inconvenience whatever.—l am, etc., H.II.
