CARNIVAL AND TUG-OF-WAR.

iSt. Francis's Hall was packed last night for the entertainment provided by Mr. Knowsley's pupils. The tug-of-war was very exciting. The Port Nicholson team defeated both Guilfoyle's and Meech's teams, and thus won the first prize. The two latter teams pull to-night for the second prize, and an even and exciting contest is anticipated. The carnival closes touight.
