One of the giant sequoia trees of California, which is lying on the ground and fell many years ago, w.as over 400fti high, and is 100 ft round ut' the base. Messrs. Harcourfc and Co. report that, as tho result of recent auction sales during the last month, they have sold No. 27, Austin street, a seven-roomed residence; a sownroomed residence, in Wellington road, Kilbirnie; a seaside property in Moana road, j Day's Bay; a vacant section of lanrl, with a 50ffc frontage to the Parade, Island Bay; [mi aero sito in Sunningdalo, Lovvor Hutt, at £1200; and a vacant section on the Main road, Upper Hutt. An auction sale of butcher's plant will be conducted by Vine and Co. at the mart, 107, Customhouse quay, to-morrow, at 2 p.m.
