THE PLIMMERTON CLUB.

The Plimmerton Boating Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon. Owing to rain, the function was held in the hall. Afternoon tea was served by the Ladies' Committee. Visitors from other yachting clubs were: Commodore A. Sterling (Paremata Club), Commodore Aldred and party (Heretaunga Club), and Mr. Pycroft (Evans Bay Club). In declaring the season open, tho commodore, Captain Hooper, mentioned the great progress made by the club during its first season. Fifteen races had been sailed. Extensions and improvements had been made to the club's slipway. The coming season had every prospect of being a successful one. The Pirate, Spray, and Karehana had been added to the club's fleet. Mr. Keith Smith's new 14----footer will soon be ready for launching, making a total of fifteen sail. Mrs. Sterling then broke out the club'a pennant. Mr. A. 11. Mildenhall, on behalf of the residents of Plimmerton, expressed appreciation of tho club's growth and activities. The club's orchestra, under the leadership of Mr. Martin, played selections. Mrs. Dallaston has presented a handsome shield as a points prize for the season' 3 racing. Mrs. '.. B. France has also presented a trophy for a race handicapped on length, beam, and sail area.
