The Hon. D. Buddo has receive? the' following reply to a message sent' regarding relief to the settlers who ' suf.' fcred loss in the recent flooding of the AVaimakariri River: —"AVith reference to your telegram of Bth inst., I have - to inform you that the State Advances Department is being authorised to grant loans to settlers who suffered loss by . the flood. Such loans are to bo grant-: ed at 5 per cent, interest, and on the best security available, with repayment' and terms to bo arranged by the-Stat* • Advances Department." " ' •
