CAUGHT UNDER COWCATCHER
Serious head injuries, a lacerated .right arm, and ft fractured right leg we're sustained by James Simpson, a wharf labourer, when he was knocked down by the engine of a suburban train while crossing tho line between the locomotive sheds and the main platform at. Thorndon Station on Saturday afternoon. He' was caught under the co. catcher of the engine, which was steaming very slowly at tho time, and dragged for a few yards. Another man, a companion of Simpson, managed to jump clear in time and escaped unhurt. Simpson, who is a married man with two children, living at 16, Glenbervie terrace, was admitted to the Hospital at 6 p.m. He is' reported to-day to be doing as well as can be expected.
