SHEEPSKINS, HIDES, AND TALLOW.
The Wellington brokers held their fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, and tallow un Friday, when they offered varying catalogues to the usual attendance of buyers. Sheepskins: Competition for good skins was keen, and prices were, If anything, a little firmer than last sales rates. On the other hand, inferior skins were hard to quit. Salteds sold at prices on a par with last sale. Hides: These were on a par with last sale, with the exception of heavy ox, for which there was no demand. Calfskins sold at'prices on a par with last sale. Tallow: This was firm at last sales prices. The following gives the range of prices realised:— Sheepskins: Half bred B%d to 13 _; fine crossbred, lid to 13% d; medium carcass crossbred, 9%d to ll^d; short half-wools, "d to 9%d; lambs, 8d to 12d; deam and damaged crossbred, 7d to 9d; Inferior and badly damaged, 2d to.7d; pelts, 4%d to 9d; damp, .salted, and green, 6s 6d to lis 9d; pelts, salted, 2s Id to 3s 9d; lambs, salted1, 2s 6d to 3s.
Hides: Ox, extra heavy, 7%d to 10_d; ox, heavy, 7%d to B%d; ox, medium, 7&d to 7%d; ox, light 6y 8 d to 6%d; cut. slippy, and inferior, 4Jd to 4Jd; cow, heavy, Od to C_d; cow, medium, 5%d to 6%d; cow, light, 6d to 6%d; cut, slippy, and inferior, 4Hd to 5%d; bull, stag, 3M.d; yearlings, RVsd to 8d; yearlings, heavy, iV 2 d to 8d; calf, superior, nil; calf, medium to good, 9_d to HV.d; calf, damaged, 2d to 9y_d.
Tallow: In .barrels, 29s to 325; in tins, etc. 16s to 295.
Sundries: Horsehair, 18d; cowtails, I3d.
