HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated the 27th November, from the High Commissioner for Now Zoaland, London:—

BUTTER.

Improved demand and market firmer. Official quotations are :—

New Zealand.—Finest salted, 146s to 154s per cwt (Is 3Mrd to Is 4'/ 2 d per lb); other qualities, 133s to 144s (Is 2d to Is 3_d). New Zealand Control Board official minimum prices aro: Finest, 158s per cwt (Is 4%d per lb); first-grade, 1568 (Is 4_d).

Australian—Salted, 144s to 150s per cwt (13 3Vic Ito Is 4d per lb) ; unsalted, 156s to 100s (Is 4'/_d to Is sd) ; other qualities, 124s to 142s (Is IVid to Is 3d).

-■ Siberian.—l32s to 136s per cwt (Is 2d to Is 2Mid per lb).

Argentine.—Unsalted, 138s to 144s per cwt (ls-2-lid to la 3Vid per lb) ; other qualities, 120s to 130s (Is o%d to la 2_d). Danish.—l7os to 172s per cwt (Is flVid to la 6_d per lb).

CHEESE.

Colonial market quiet. Official quotations are:—

English.—Finest farmers', 102s to 108s per, cwt (10% dto HV.cl per lb). Demand; is good for finest.

Canadian.—Coloured and white, 86s to 88s per cwt (ovid per lb).

New Zealand.—Coloured and white, 843 to 85s per cwt (9d to 9d per lb). Control Board minimum prices arc: Finest, 85s per cwt (9d per lb); first-grade, 84s (9d).

OTHEU PRODUCTS,

Casein.—Present quotations lire: —New Zea-

land ronnet, £G6; French rennet, £61; English rennet, £58 to £G3.

Tallow.—Xo auction this week. Market very quiet at last quotations.

Eggs.—Slow demand. English, Dutch, Danish, 25s to 28s per long 100; Belgian, 22s to 235; Australian, 18s 10 10s; South African, 14a to 17s Gd; Russian, 12s Gd to lGs; Polish and Chinese, 10s Gd to 13s Gd.

Peas. —Business In new season's Maple Partridge commenced earlier than usual owing to small stocks of old peas on hand. It Is estimated that over 2000 tons already sold of February-March shipments up to July next. Prices commencing at 75s reached 'JOs, but 85s since taken for March-April shipments. Tasmanian February-March shipments quoted 00s. Demand is now easier, buyers having satisfied immediate requirements aud awaiting results of Tasmanian and New Zealand harvests. Prices not c-j)2ctcd to advance and may lower. Blues: Market firm owing to partial failure of English and Dutch crops. Prospects are good for Dutch Marrowfats, selling at £35 per ton, Japanese have risen sharply, and December-January shipments now quoted at £33 per ton. New Zealand: Demand is quiet in view of roor boiling quality. Today the value of February-March shipments is about £20. - •

Hemp.—Manila market continues firm for near position. Forward shipment Is easier, but close is steady. "J" grade November-January shipments quoted, buyers £47. Sisal market steady; Tanganyika No. 1, November-January shipments, £43 10s, value. New Zealand: Market steady aud demand is good, but more buyers than sellers for fair. November-Janu-ary shipments sold at £35 10s to £36 ss, and Kighpoints quoted at £38. Wools. —Sales proceeding satisfactorily, with good Home trade support of New Zealand. Prices fully equal to opening, rates.
