THE FIRST LOOK AROUND
The new City Engineer, Mr. G. A. Hart,, made an early start in "looking Wellington over," for although yesterday's weather was scarcely to be described as balmy or calm and peaceful, Mr. Hart started out on a round-the-city tour with Mr. K. E. Luke, who has acted as City Engineer since Mr. Paterson's resignation some months ago. This motor run was planned well ahead, particularly that length of it which gives a visitor a thorough-going surprise as the car rounds a bend of Alexandra road, Mount Victoria, to an open spnee from which a full view of city "and harbour is given, but those plans provided for an ideal day. Though they went wrong as regards the weather, Mr. Hart has expressed himself as very favourably impressed with his first day in Wellington. This morning ho called upon the Mayor, and for some hours talked over city matters.
