EMPRESS THEATRE.
There commenced at the Empress Theatre yesterday an admirable P™S«! mra ?< in which Frank Tuttle presents Glou.i Swansou in a starring vehicle, anW Moore and Dorothy Devore, a populai comedy team, fulfil all expectations of fun, fast and furious. In "The Untamed Lady Miss Swanson, partnered by a bnlliant juvenile lead, Larry Gray (perhaps a bit too juvenile for a woman of her expenence and maturity), is cast as a spoilt society girl who, with money, a wpndevtui wardrobe of clothes and much ill-bred hauteur, displays a temper that is the bane of all her friends. She interrupts musicians in the middle of recitals; she attends smart social functions in unconventional bathing costume; and she cheers like a larrakin at baseball matches. All of which Society condones, for the spoilt idler nas much that is useful to climbers and that other fungus that grows where wealth is. She has been engaged three times, but hoi fiance number four is a young man oi much determination, and he teaches the girl along-delayed lesson in usefulness ana manners. There are some realistic yacnt scenes during a stoi'm, when the heiress is forced to shovel coal like any stoker. There is an exciting chase on horseback, and each little lesson does - its work; it proves to the girl with the ungovernable temper that there are other things desirable in life;-f.Mi3a-.gwanßon>s?feUmgs and frocks are magnificent. In "How Baxter Butted In" Matt Moore, with Miss Devore, prove that there is bravery m the most timid. There is also a gazette, and excellent music by the Empress Orchestra.
