(By Telegraph.)
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
AUCKLAND. This Day,
The decision of the Minister of Labour to reduce the Conciliation Commissioners from three to two was explained this morning by Mr. P. Hally to representatives of the workers and employers. He will have charge of the whole of the North Island, Nelson, and Marlborough, and his collearue. will take the remaining districts of tho South Island.
A number of trade organisations wero settling their troubles by Dominion conferences, ho said, and in tho awards by the Arbitration Court a number of clauses covering routine and other matters had been standardised. The Apprentices Act had fur'her diminished the work of the Councils, all the business dealing with apprentices being covered by special committees. Thus the actual work of hearing industrial disputes had been reduced. ,If the new system worked without inconvenience it would continue. If not, he was sure that tho Minister would find a remedy without delay. Mr. Hally was heartily congratulated by the employers and tho workers on his appointment.
