HALL DESTROYED BY FIRE

GREYMOUTH, This Day.

Mandl's Hall, Blackball, was destroyed by fire last night. Tho hall, which was valued at between £1500 and £1700, had not been in use during the day. About 9.45 pan. fire was noticed in the rear portion of tho building, and the flames spreading rapidly, the structure was reduced to ashes. No water supply was available. The origin of the fire is unknown. The hall belonged to Mr. Mandl, of Hokitika, and is believed to be insured for about £1000, which will not cover the loss on the building. Beban's picture firm, which has utilised Mandl's Hall, will lose about £200, as the shed at the rear contained. a dynamo and an oil engine, while the firm had their projecting machine in the hall, and sundry films.
