« NEW DOMINION COUNCIL THE LOCAL PROGRAMME. j A new president aud council have been | elected for the Dominion Bowling Association. As the only nominee, Mr. J. W. Hadley, of Auckland, has been elected president. Mr. A. J. Benzie, of Christchurch, ia the vice-president (and therefore president-elect for 1927-28), and Mr. A. H. yeoman, of Auckland, is treasurer. These three have seats on the council. In the South Island the following council was returned unopposed:—Messrs. M. ]?. Barnett and E. H. Healy (Christchurch), J. J. Marlow and D. M. Pastier (Dunedin), J. H. Loudon (Invercargill), and E. Shillato (Tiinaru). Since the poll Mr. Shillato has resigned, and hia place has been taken by Mr. J. Moyes, also of Timaru. As there was one candidate too many for the North Island seats, an election had to be held, when the following were returned:—Messrs. J. M. Thomson and G. L. Gledding (Auckland), R. IT. Pilkington (Auckland South), F. Meadowcroft (Wellington), G. S. Gordon (Wanganui), and A. K. Smart (New Plymouth), The candidate eliminated was Mr. M. J. Hodgins (of Wellington), whilst Mr. Meadowcroft (late president of the association) polled the lowest number of votes. THREE COMPETITIONS. The Wellington Centre has agreed to hold three competitions during the coming season, viz., the senior pennants, the shield matches, and the junior pennants, which is a method of classifying all match players. It is taken for granted that the club selectors will select the best men for the pennants, and the next best for the shield games, whilst only juniors can contest the junior pennants. The pennants promise to be a very hot contest in the coming season, eleven clubs having intimated that they will enter two teams (eight rinks), just double the old two-at-home and twoaway representations of former years. It is suggested that each club play all the other clubs alternately at home and away, as far as is practicable. The annual centre tournament is to commence on Monday, 27th December. The above dates are' only tentative, as they still have to be approved by the centre at next Tuesday's meeting.
