GOLF

ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL REPORT.

The report of the council for the year ended 31st July, to be presented at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Association on 20th October, states that tho total expenditure amounted to £995 0s sd, and the revenue from subscriptions and interest to £1109 7s 2d, showing a surplus of £114 6s 9d, and bringing the accumulated fund at the close of the year to £370 Is 3d. Tho special resolution brought forward by the council and passed at the general meeting on 19th July, would have the effect of reducing revenue by £200 to £300 for the year just commencing, but as against this it had to remembered that the amendment of the rules which was passed at the last annual general meeting would make about a dozen clubs liable to pay in respjcl of their lady members who were not liable w'.or the rule as previously drawn up. This bringing into line of all tho clubs, together with the fact that the membership of affiliated clubs was steadily increasing, should enable the association to carry out' a similar programme of work this year, without showing a deficiency in revenue. During the year just closed, seventeen clubs had 'joined tho association, and three had resigned (two of the resignations being due to clubs having merged into a new club, which became a member). The membership at the close of the year stood at 123, as against 109 last year and 101 the previous year.
